they are not from here, not this world, not this time. though diana has had more experience observing the human condition, living among mortals while she made her own path as a self-proclaimed protector, she finds that she and thor have much to talk about. ice cream being one of them. the humans of earth are under their protection, though she works alone and he often works with others called the avengers.
their meetings are few and far between, but she greets him like an old friend, smiling as soon as she sees that streak of lightning in the sky. though he makes the ground tremble upon landing, diana stands unblinking and unflustered in the middle of the field.
america is full of wide, open spaces. the prairies hold a special beauty that she has not seen in most other regions of the world, with dusty trails and tall grass. there is no one around for miles with the nearest town almost a two-hour drive away. ( for those who need cars, anyway. ) it seems to be the ideal place for them to try a bit of sparring.

when thor grips her arm in greeting, she grips his and her smile widens. there is something about the way a grin seems to nearly split his face in two, giving way to something boyish beneath the facial hair and armor. it is nice. ]
She owes me another sparring match upon her return, then. I look forward to that day.

[ she is sometimes a woman if simple needs and spending time with a friend is certainly one of them, especially when they're an excellent sparring partner. there a very few, after all, who are a match for either diana or thor.
she's ready to go, as it were, sword at her side, her shield resting against a tree nearby. with a smile, she pulls away to look him over. ]
